U.S. Soccer, our governing body, plays a crucial role in the development of both coaches and youth soccer players. Their comprehensive training programs and innovative methodologies provide a solid framework for cultivating skilled and confident coaches. At BRYC, we follow U.S. Soccer's best practices to ensure a clear and effective pathway for our coaches' growth and success. This section is dedicated to providing our coaches with essential resources and guidance to refine their skills while encouraging them to explore additional training opportunities offered by U.S. Soccer. Together, we are fostering a positive and impactful soccer experience for our players and community.

Step Two - Coaching Pathway

Step Two - Coaching Pathway

U.S. Soccer and BRYC provide excellent opportunities to advance your coaching development. The U.S. Soccer Pathway, illustrated below, offers a clear progression for coaches. Check with BRYC periodically, as our league occasionally offers free coaching courses to help you progress.

License Level Cost Range Course Type
Grassroots Pathway $25 - $150 Online or In-Person
D License $200 - $500 Combination (Classroom and Field)
C License $1,000 - $2,000 Combination (Classroom and Field)
B License (Pro Pathway) $3,000 - $4,000 Combination (Classroom and Field)
A License (Pro Pathway) $4,000+ Combination (Classroom and Field)

Courses are available both online and in person. Advanced licenses, such as the A, B, C, and D licenses, require a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on field training. The Pro Pathway courses are generally designed for individuals pursuing paid coaching positions at the professional level. BRYC does not provide reimbursement for Pro Pathway courses and does not sponsor the A, B, or C license pathways.

U.S. Soccer Pathway

BRYC does provide reimbursement for Grassroots Pathway courses and the D License. D License reimbursement is limited to the head coach of the team.

Volunteers with collegiate or professional playing experience may have options to test into specific licenses. Check with U.S. Soccer to determine your eligibility and the availability of these opportunities.

Obtaining Training Certification

Once you have identified the pathway or course you wish to pursue, follow these steps:

  1. Inform BRYC's Training Director of your intent. This will allow you to check if BRYC has any current opportunities or reimbursements available. BRYC is willing to reimburse for Grassroots and D licenses.
  2. If no BRYC-sponsored opportunities are available, proceed to schedule your training using the U.S. Soccer Course Directory.
  3. Once you have completed your training, inform the Training Director so BRYC can track your progress and process your reimbursement.

Reimbursement Requirements

BRYC will reimburse Grassroots courses and the D License course. The goal is to support coaches in obtaining their D License to promote better soccer growth. To process your reimbursement, follow the steps below:

  1. Email the Training Director with the following information:
    • Your receipt
    • Your certificate of completion
