Concussions in youth sports is a HOT topic right now. Every public school sports program has a policy for handling concussions, and mandatory education for parents and athletes. Many sports clubs, including BRYC, are joining the move to raise awareness about concussions and the treatment of concussions.
In the Fall 2011 season, John Almquist, Administrator of Athletic Training Programs for Fairfax County Public Schools, presented a seminar on Concussions in Youth Sports. The presentation was very enlighting.
It is absolutely worth every coach’s time to educate themselves, and their parents and players, on the latest findings. Here is a link to a Concussion Training Video offered by the Center for Disease Control.
